Revelate Designs bikepacking gear is a favourite at Abbotsford Cycles. And we stock their entire range in store & online.
We are often asked which of the bikepacking bags brands are the best. This has always been a tricky question to answer.
But we can say that the team at Abbotsford Cycles has done more bikepacking & gravel rides using Revelate gear than our other brands.
This is due in no small part to their huge range of sizes & capacity bags.
As innovators in the game, you will find that no matter what kind of ride you are gearing up for, they have a bag for you.
Revelate are always bringing out something new, and something better. We love what they create & the problems they solve that we didn’t even know we had!
They understand that if you’re racing you will need different gear to a multi-week ride. And their particular designs will be catered to your riding style & your set-up. You can easily mix & match brands, but you won’t want to go past Revelate’s offerings.
Their sturdy bags are made from tough fabrics that are hard-wearing for those rough rides. They have never accepted compromise on design in the name of waterproofness. And this is probably the biggest difference you will find between Revelate and other brands.
What’s the difference between Revelate & other bikepacking bag makers?
While some brands are trying to make all their gear waterproof – Ortlieb is famous for this. Revelate are about the design. Will you really be riding in a torrential downpour? Revelate don’t think so!
Revelate Designs bikepacking gear is made for adventuring, and assumes your gear is pretty tough too. If you have ever ridden in a downpour with a non-waterproof frame bag you will know life goes on! Rarely will your frame bag fill with water, even in a deluge. And largely your camping gear is made of tough enough stuff to withstand a little splash.
Don’t let waterproofness deter you on the Revelate gear though, because they have road-tested their gear to hell & back. So there will be no noticeable difference in quality from their bags to a more waterproof one. Other than you will definitely find non-waterproof zips easier to operate mid-ride.
Finding the right bag can be tricky, so we encourage you to bring your bike in! Understanding not everyone is local, we can usually help with sizing questions from afar too. If you know the specs of your bike, we will absolutely be able to help you find the right bag. But more important than your bike, will be where you are going with it!
