The Ortlieb Frame-Pack RC Toptube is a waterproof bikepacking half-frame bag with a unique roll-closure.
The RC in the name refers to the roll-closure of this bag, in lieu of a traditional zipper closure. While Ortlieb still make the same bag with a zip closure (see it here), they also offer this as a neat alternative. If you have ever struggled to find gear in your frame bag because you can’t see inside through the side access opening, this is the bag for you.
Ortlieb are famous for making panniers with roll-top closures for the last 40 years, so you can trust they have it right on this frame bag. The roll-closure allows you to stuff a whole lot of gear in this bag!
Being a shallow depth bag, you can run your usual bidons in your frame, so no worries about how to carry water on your trip. Easily fitting tent poles, pumps, spares, your phone and other heavy gear, this is our favourite Ortlieb frame bag.
This is also a solution for those using dual-suspension bikes with horizontal shocks!
