The Park Tool Hydraulic Brake Piston Press PP-1.2 is a disc brake pad spreader tool.

Using the right tool for the job makes the job easier – and this is certainly true of this one. Disc brakes are great in that they self-adjust as your pads wear down. But this also means that you will need to push the caliper pistons back when you need to fit new pads. Depending on how lucky you are this can be a real challenge without a piston press.

Another common reason you would need a pad spreader is if you have ever removed your wheel & knocked your brakes. Without your wheel & your rotor in the caliper, the pistons will happily advance and you won’t be able to get your wheel back on. • The tapered end of the PP-1.2 is 25mm wide
• Total insertable length of the tool is 26 mm
• Thickness of the wedge is 4.1 mm
• Fits into most caliper bodies including Shimano XTR.
• NOTE: Wedge-style piston tools such as the PP-1.2 are not intended for use with brake systems that utilize ceramic pistons, such as Shimano road disc brake calipers.
