Exposure has long been the cyclists best friend on those dark gloomy roads, and the Trace + Tracer combo is an excellent option for commuters. They pack a punch with their small aluminium body & side visibility lens. Meaning you will be seen from all angles – and during the day time too. In fact, Exposure are particularly focussed on daytime brightness. Because they know to be seen is to be safe on the roads out there.
And for all us weight weenies, these little lights will be a great choice on your carbon or ti bike – they weigh just 35g each!
Included in this set is the Trace & Tracer MK3, so let’s break it down.
The Trace
The Trace is an ‘urban’ riding (or commuter riding) specific front light. It has an output of 125 lumens and has a run time between 3-24 hours depending on the mode you choose to run it (pulse, beam).
This little light also features Exposure’s ‘DayBright’ mode which is a specific pulse pattern that is particularly noticeable. Making it great for riding in the day – hence the name.
Speaking of features, there are 3 brightness levels to choose from & a Fuel Gauge to let you know when you need to recharge the light. And of course it’s USB rechargeable & supplied with the cable to do so.
But the main takeaway from this particular front light from Exposure is how small it is. If you are someone who likes a clean cockpit, this is the light for you.
The Tracer MK3 DayBright
The Tracer is the matching tiny rear light that’s also an ideal for urban riding & road riding. It has a 75 lumen output and features the same DayBright mode that gives off a distinct pulse pattern. This pattern is difficult to ignore & can be seen from up to a kilometre away, even in bright conditions.
Like all good lights this one also comes with 3 brightness levels to choose from & due to the domed lens it has great side visibility. Depending on the mode you run it in, you will get between 3 and 24 hours run time between recharges. And it is USB rechargeable & comes with the cable you will need to charge it.
