The Ergon ST Gel Women Saddle is a comfortable, ergonomically engineered saddle that suits touring bikes & those doing long days on the bike.
Combining both gel & orthopaedic comfort foam this saddle is designed to be as ‘cushiony’ as possible. Though adding more softness to saddles is not enough to make them more comfortable – design is important.
This is a women’s specific saddle from Ergon, meaning that it is wider & has a shorter ‘pressure relief channel’ than saddles designed for men. However this does not mean that it only suits women, as saddle science cannot account for all the differences in human anatomy.
Ergon is all about pain free cycling – which we at Abbotsford Cycles appreciate. Ergon saddles – like their grips – are comfortable, high quality & hard-wearing. Unlike other saddles which may wear through from riding with your jeans on, Ergon saddles are made of high quality material.

Anatomical Gel-Pads
When cycling, most of your body weight rests on the small saddle surface. To prevent discomfort in the sitting area, the pressure is distributed as evenly as possible over the sit bones. Gel pads are inlayed in specific ergonomic positions to help alleviate pressures under these bony structures.
MAXIMUM COMFORT–Adapted to your posture
As a touring cyclist, you sit on the saddle in a much more upright position. The ST Gel is designed to match this posture.
The typical flat and wide saddles that are common on fitness bikes can contribute to discomfort. Notable features that aid to this saddle’s comfort are the orthopaedic foam and gel pads. Additionally, the sides of the saddle are particularly soft to alleviate any unnecessary pressures along your inner thighs.
MAXIMUM LEGROOM–The benefit of a narrow saddle nose
The most enjoyable bicycle tour is when there is no distractions of unnecessary saddle pressure or friction. If your thighs rub against the front of the saddle when pedalling, this can quickly end the enjoyment of your ride. The saddle nose of the ST Gel has a narrow cut, giving you the best possible legroom when cycling and prevents any unnecessary rubbing.
ORTHOPAEDIC FOAM–Comfortable and durable
The padding of the ST Gel is made of orthopaedic comfort foam, which Ergon have designed for fitness bikes, e-bikes and touring bikes. The foam is supportive, soft, but does not collapse. In addition to the foam, specific gel pad inlays offer even more comfort under the sitting area. With this saddle, it is not absolutely necessary to wear cycling shorts. The saddle is covered with robust microfiber to prevent abrasions and maintain the durability of the saddle.
Specific saddles for men and women
When it comes to saddle contact points and relief areas, men and women are anatomically very different. Any incorrect pressure distribution in this area often leads to feelings of numbness and discomfort. Men experience this more towards the back of the saddle and women, more towards the front of the saddle. Through extensive research and development, two distinctly different designs were born. The two distinctly different designs share the common goal of maximum comfort.
The Right Size
The shape and size of the saddle must match the sit bone width of the rider to maximize comfort and enjoyment. The pelvis is V-shaped and the saddle must offer the sit bones a large contact surface while being able to meet the demands of different sitting positions. The more forward and aggressive the rider sits, the further forward the sit bones contact the saddle. Two saddle sizes are offered to match the rider’s unique sit bone width.
