Description
The Brooks Flyer Short saddle is a compact version of the classically designed leather saddle with coil springs. This vintage styled bike seat looks excellent on a steel frame bike, and with the shorter nose it works great on step-through bikes.
Like all of the ‘short’ versions of Brooks saddles this one is made with smaller riders in mind – primarily women. The shorter nose gives you more room inside the frame of your bike if you ride a small sized bike. Additionally, it will also give you room to throw your leg through the frame on a step-through bike.
With the increasing popularity of shorter nosed saddles in road riding this retro saddle from Brooks just makes sense. And the coiled springs turn your saddle from just a component into something that looks like a design choice.
Leather saddles like this one from Brooks have remained popular for decades for their ability to stretch. Over time & with use the leather of the saddle will stretch & mould to your body. And to account for these changes in the surface of the saddle there is a tension bolt underneath the nose to make adjustments. As your leather saddle stretches you will be able to tighten the nose bolt & keep it nicely taut.
The other important note on your leather saddle is caring for the leather itself. All Brooks leather saddles come with a small sachet of saddle treatment known as ‘Proofide‘ for you to use in the first 6 months. This treatment will ensure the leather remains supple as you ‘break it in’ with riding. And it will help the leather withstand the elements.
